PNOE Metabolic Test
A clinical-grade cardiorespiratory analysis that gives you the most complete picture of your metabolic, cardiovascular, and respiratory health.
What is PNOE Metabolic Test?
The PNOE Metabolic Test uses a portable VO2 analyzer to capture over 40 biomarkers through the science of breath. It helps you decode how your body uses oxygen, burns fat, processes carbs, and responds to stress -- at rest and under exertion.
How it works
You breathe into a portable analyzer either at rest (RMR test) or during exercise (AMR test). The device measures oxygen consumption and CO2 output to calculate your exact metabolic rate, fuel utilization, and cardiorespiratory fitness.
Why clients use it
Clients incorporate PNOE Metabolic Test into their protocols for a range of goals and conditions — from acute recovery to long-term optimization.
Understanding your resting metabolic rate
Optimizing nutrition based on actual fuel utilization
Measuring cardiovascular fitness and VO2 max
Tracking recovery and performance progress
Creating personalized nutrition and training plans
What to expect
For RMR: sit quietly and breathe into the mask for about 10-15 minutes. For AMR: perform a graded exercise test on a bike or treadmill while breathing into the mask. Results are reviewed with you immediately or in a follow-up consultation.
Safety considerations
Fast for at least 4 hours before an RMR test. Avoid intense exercise 24 hours before testing for most accurate results.
Recovery Stacking — Sequencing Guide
Based on clinical evidence, here is how PNOE Metabolic Test pairs with other OutRecover modalities.
| Modality | Timing | What It Supports | Why It Works | Research |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI Bike Training | AMR testAfter | VO2 max measurement, performance data | The AMR test may use the AI Bike as the exercise modality; schedule other cardio sessions on different days for accurate results. | — |
| InBody Body Composition Analysis | Before or After | Comprehensive health snapshot | Pairing PNOE with InBody provides both metabolic and structural data for a complete picture. | — |
| Infrared Sauna | After | Relaxation, circulation | Sauna after testing supports recovery; avoid sauna before as elevated heart rate may affect baseline measurements. | — |
| Dry Cold Plunge | After | Recovery, nervous system reset | Cold plunge after testing supports recovery; avoid before as it may alter metabolic rate readings. | — |
| OxeFit | different day preferredAfter | Performance tracking, strength baseline | Avoid intense strength training on the same day as metabolic testing for most accurate results. | — |
AI Bike Training
VO2 max measurement, performance data
The AMR test may use the AI Bike as the exercise modality; schedule other cardio sessions on different days for accurate results.
InBody Body Composition Analysis
Comprehensive health snapshot
Pairing PNOE with InBody provides both metabolic and structural data for a complete picture.
Infrared Sauna
Relaxation, circulation
Sauna after testing supports recovery; avoid sauna before as elevated heart rate may affect baseline measurements.
Dry Cold Plunge
Recovery, nervous system reset
Cold plunge after testing supports recovery; avoid before as it may alter metabolic rate readings.
OxeFit
Performance tracking, strength baseline
Avoid intense strength training on the same day as metabolic testing for most accurate results.
